Our Services

We believe in enjoying later life and Abbeyfield Maidenhead will always offer you the opportunity to get involved in activities and entertainment – which is a big part of your Abbeyfield experience.

If you choose to live with us, you’ll enjoy your own comfortable room, socialising in shared lounges and dining areas, and our beautifully maintained gardens.

“Our residents do not live in our workplace, we work in their home.”

We offer a range of services at our homes including:

Residential Care

Residential care is a term used to describe the general care and support provided in a standard elderly care home. It can often be referred to as “personal care” or even “assisted living” and usually involves help with basic needs such as washing, dressing, mobility assistance and so on.

There are many benefits attached to residential care, including:

  • Basic Care: In a residential care home, individuals are in a safe, secure environment where they can be cared for 24 hours a day
  • Social interaction & stimulation: Many elderly people can get very lonely and isolated, significantly impacting on their mental wellbeing. In our residential care homes, residents are around other people and can take part in activities to keep their minds occupied and stimulated.
  • Nutritious cooked meals: residents at Abbeyfield Maidenhead receive nutritious cooked meals that are tailored to their dietary requirements, making sure that they have a balanced, healthy diet,
  • Residents can spend quality time with friends and family: There is often a fear that going into a care home means that you will be trapped and unable to experience life outside which is a complete myth. Friends and family will still be able to visit and do things that they enjoy. Having full-time care means that loved ones can spend precious time together without the worry of having to take on the responsibility of the resident’s care.
  • Winton House provides an in-house physiotherapy service from dedicated, caring Physiotherapists who specialise in the rehabilitation of older people. This service is provided free of charge to residents and has proved to be very successful in reducing the number of falls and improving residents’ mobility, confidence and comfort.

Respite Care

Respite care is available for a patient who may need to stabilise their condition after a time in hospital, or for someone who needs a period of care to enable their family to take a break or go on holiday.

Residents will benefit from care in a ‘home away from home’ setting with exceptional care, varied activities programme as well as the opportunity to socialise with new people as part of a welcoming community.

Coming to Winton House for a week or more as a short stay resident will enable you to access dedicated care including physiotherapy. During your stay, you can enjoy a range of daily activities or just relax in one of our sitting rooms or in our private garden. You will receive the best care to support your respite or rehabilitation, helping you to return home safe and well.

For your family, they can enjoy their break or holiday, safe in the knowledge that your relative is being treated with the very highest standard of care and also being able to enjoy a holiday of their own!

Respite care special offer – Come as a respite resident, and if the stay becomes permanent, we’ll refund you £1000.

Day Care

Attending day care services helps to relieve the loneliness and isolation of people living on their own and assists people in maintaining independence.

At Winton House we offer day care facilities providing varied, stimulating activities, companionship and care, within a safe environment. The services are suitable for older people with varying levels of care needs, including those who have mild dementia.

Day care services are also suitable for people who live with relatives, enabling family carers to have some respite with the peace of mind that their relative is being cared for.

Individualised activity plans are designed for our day care members taking into account personal interests and hobbies. The activities on offer include arts and crafts, quizzes, reminiscence, bingo and trips out.

All of our day care services include lunch and refreshments throughout the day. A free “taster day” is offered to anyone considering using our day care services.
