Hello Winton House residents, families, and friends!
As the blossoms bloom and the days grow longer, April has brought a wonderful array of activities and celebrations to Winton House. We are excited to share the highlights and heart-warming moments from this past month.
Sowing Seeds and Flower Arranging
April began with residents getting their hands dirty in the best way possible – planting sunflower seeds. This activity not only brought joy but also a sense of anticipation as we look forward to seeing these seeds grow into beautiful sunflowers.
Our creative streak continued with a flower arranging session, where residents crafted stunning floral displays. The vibrant arrangements brightened our common areas and added a touch of spring indoors.
Celebrating St. George’s Day
St. George’s Day was a delightful celebration filled with colour and flavour. Residents decorated cakes, turning them into edible masterpieces. As you can see from the pictures above, these cakes tasted as good as they looked! Our celebration of St. George’s Day continued with arts and crafts activities, allowing residents to express their creativity and embrace the festive spirit.
Music and Movement
The lovely Lucy Lou graced us with her presence, singing songs that everyone loved. Her performance had residents singing along and tapping their feet, creating a joyful and lively atmosphere.
We also emphasised the importance of staying active with our exercise sessions with Josh. Regular seated exercise classes help our residents maintain their health and independence, ensuring that everyone stays fit and energized.
Thanks to Terry Gleed
A special thank you to Terry Gleed for his fantastic cabaret act, which included singing, magic, and comedy. Terry’s performance was a hit, and we were thrilled to celebrate his birthday with a surprise cake and candles. It was a memorable day filled with laughter and cheer.
Delightful Afternoon Tea
Our residents enjoyed a relaxing afternoon tea, complete with delicious cakes. This gathering was a perfect opportunity to unwind and enjoy delightful conversations over scrumptious treats.
Baby Bloom Class
One of the most heartwarming highlights of April was the Baby Bloom Class. Residents loved interacting with the babies and their mothers, singing along and sharing smiles. This month’s theme was a teddy bears’ tea party, which added an extra layer of fun and cuteness to the session. We look forward to these visits, as they bring so much joy and connection.
Inspiring Church Service with Mary
We had the honour of a special church service led by Mary, one of our very own residents. Mary, an Assembly Accredited Lay Preacher of the United Reformed Church, shared her wisdom and spirituality with us. Remarkably, Mary earned her degree in theology at the age of 79, inspiring us all with her dedication and passion.
As we reflect on the vibrant and fulfilling month of April, we are grateful for the moments of joy, creativity, and connection that we’ve shared. We look forward to many more wonderful experiences in the coming months.
